Herewith a brief summary with regards to the Gastric Bypass Surgery program.
Who qualifies?

Patients with a BMI of >35 plus 2 co-morbidities

Patients with a BMI of >40 plus 1 co- morbidity
-
Patients under the age of 55 years
How to calculate your BMI: Weight ÷Height2
Co-morbidities are: Diabetes, heart & lung disease, hypertension, high cholesterol, kidney & liver disease, sleep apnea, arthritis, gastro esophageal reflux disease, orthopedic problems, etc.
To join the program
All prospective patients must attend an information session conducted by Professor van der Walt before a consultation. No patients will be consulted without attending an information session. During these information sessions the following will be discussed:

Appointment timeline
After attending an information session and joining the program, a surgical preparation time of approximately 3-4 months is required before surgery is performed.
Information sessions are conducted on a Friday morning from 08:00 to 11:00. Please contact us for a booking.
